Tennessee Arts Commission’s Individual Artist Fellowships

Join us for a TN Arts Commission Individual Artist Fellowship Grant Application Workshop, December 17 & 22, 2025

Kingsport Cultural Arts and Create Appalachia are partnering to bring you a free workshop on writing applications.  These grants go directly to individual artists. If you are a working artist who lives in Tennessee and fits into one of these categories, we highly encourage you to apply. If you’ve never applied for a grant before and would like some help, we’re here to guide you through the process!

See the grant information here: www.tnartscommission.org/iaf

Register for the writing sessions here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/individual-artist-fellowship-grant-workshop-tickets-1975300306390  Seating is limited, so register soon! (We will keep a waiting list.)

TIPS FOR APPLYING in case you can’t join us for the workshop:

1. Read every part of the grant and answer any questions fully.
2. The grant page lists your commission contact for each category. Use them! If you get your draft done several weeks before the deadline, you can even ask Arts Commission staff to read through your application and give you feedback or suggestions. They will be your biggest help!
3. Make sure pictures are high quality/high resolution and taken with a plain background to make your work stand out. If you are a performer, ensure that your video is not shaky and the sound quality is high.
4. Proof of Tennessee residency must be your voter ID or license (no utility bills or other substitutes are allowed).
5. If you have applied before but not been chosen, the Commission encourages you to keep trying. Some artists have received a fellowship on their 7th or 8th application.
