This juried botanical art exhibition celebrates the biodiversity of the Appalachian Highlands. For this competition, we seek artistic works highlighting Appalachia’s natural botanical bounty. Works chosen for exhibit will showcase each artist’s unique creative vision and artistic ability. Artists of all types are encouraged to submit their work, as this exhibit welcomes pieces from all media in the visual arts, including digital media. 

Works chosen will be displayed prominently in participating downtown storefronts in Erwin, TN as an outdoor walking gallery safe for viewing. The exhibit will also be displayed online at

The exhibition will open on November 1, 2020 and close on January 31, 2021

Three judges will participate in the selection process. Michelle Bouton (Unicoi County, TN) is the founder of HERBalachia School of Herbaliam and the Sassafras Moon Herbal Festival, as well as a trained artist. Becky Mallory (Greene County, TN) is a fiber artist committed to recycling, felting, dyeing, deconstructing and reconstructing cast-off garments. Nell Jefferson Fredericksen (Sugar Grove Studio, Ferrum, VA), is a Virginia Master Artisan. She is an award-winning metalsmith, potter, and stained-glass artist as well as a trained herpetologist.  

The entry fee is $20 for up to 3 images up to 8 images for $30
