Artist Reception: February 5, 5–7 PM

Create Appalachia is honored to present The Woman Colour Built, a vivid and deeply personal solo exhibition by award-winning photographer and visual artist Leanne Trivett S. Rooted in self-portraiture and guided by the emotional intelligence of color, this body of work examines how memory, identity, and feeling blur together—layered, fluid, and brilliantly alive.

In The Woman Colour Built, Trivett S allows color to become voice, compass, and companion. Through multiple exposures, intentional blur, ICM, and layered imagery, she reconstructs moments not as they appeared, but as they were felt. Each photograph exists in the liminal space where memory meets light—where pink wraps in hope, green teaches resilience, blue opens possibility, and vibrant oranges and violets speak in their own layered language. The work unfolds like an internal play: some scenes staged, others discovered in spontaneity, all of them rooted in emotional resonance.

Trivett S’s artistic practice is shaped by her background in theatre and vocal performance, infusing her photographs with movement, transformation, and a sense of narrative pause. She describes photography as both mirror and threshold—a place where psyche, ego, spirit, and soul intersect. With her camera as compass, she traces the subtle edges of her inner world, creating images that feel intimate yet universal, dreamlike yet grounded in truth.

At the heart of her work is connection. Each frame becomes a bridge between artist and viewer, offering a space where vulnerability, recognition, and shared humanity can be reflected back.
