This square quilt uses an organic tree imposed on a triangle and circle. Red buttons are used as fruit for the tree. The trunk is created from twisted cotton batik. The leaves are three-dimensional.

Kristy Moeller Ottinger is a professional quilt maker and teacher. She has exhibited widely and her work has been shown by galleries in the USA, Ireland, and Italy including the Burren College of Art, Ballyvaughan, Ireland. She is a member of the prestigious SAQA, Fiber Art Now, and American Craft Council.

The inspiration for ‘Tree Of Life’ came from a study she did about the Tree of Life found in the books of Genesis and Revelation. Ottinger’s contemporary folk art quilts are interpreted in the colors, shapes and patterns used in the quilts. The texture and mixed media included in the quilts give a three-dimensional aspect that draws in the viewer.
