This year’s show features a variety of digital works made by ten different artists. We were excited that seven of our featured artists were able to join us for the opening reception: Jonathan Hounshell, Leanne Trivett S., Bradley Kiser, Autumn Roe, PJ Clark, Sarit Somasa, and Felix Jordan. The artists had a great time talking with each other about their work, and many of them also commented on how beautifully curated the exhibit is. For that, kudos go to our founder, Cher Cornett.
During her remarks, Katie Hoffman, CA’s Executive Director, thanked the artists for sharing their work and asked them for their support in getting the word out about Create Appalachia’s focus on digital creative placemaking. “Keep your eye out for our art calls,” she said, “and tell others in the digital art community that we would welcome their entries for upcoming shows.”
She noted that all levels of artists were featured in this show, from seasoned professionals to first time exhibitors, also mentioning that one of CA’s goals is helping the general public understand the artistry and finesse behind digital art. “It is just as worthy of appreciation as traditional fine art,” she said, “and we want to help people understand why. Create Appalachia is proud to have both displayed side by side in our gallery during some of our group shows, demonstrating the wealth of talent in our region.”
We were blessed to have three exceptional jurors for the show.
