About this event

Dr. Katie Hoffman, Instructor

April 19, 2022 at our Kingsport Center for Art and Technology

From 6 PM to 7:30 at 225 W Center Street, Suite 115, Kingsport, TN 37660

Before potential clients hire you for a service or purchase your work, they like to know something about your background, experience, and accomplishments. A focused, well-written professional bio can be the difference between a “yes” and a “no” in business, so it’s important to craft yours carefully. A strong bio is a must for websites, exhibit applications, speaking engagements, and any situation in which you need to give people a strong sense of who you are as a creative entrepreneur or small business. Whether you’re a game developer, a photographer, an animator, a quilter, an interior designer, or some other kind of creative entrepreneur, a professional biography is a must-have.

Katie Hoffman will help you understand the building blocks of a good professional bio. She’ll give you some idea-generation exercises before and during the session to put you on the road to a solid draft. You’ll leave the workshop with plenty of ideas for crafting a biography that you can tweak as needed; one that you can use in multiple contexts to engage effectively with potential clients, collectors, or customers.

Those who register at least three days before the session will receive an email ahead of time with some idea-generation activities. A handout will also be provided at the session. (Those who sign up less than three days ahead of the class will receive both when they arrive.)

Starting is the hardest part, but Katie is ready to help!
